Hasenpfeffer is a well known rabbit recipe. Though many people talk about Hasenpfeffer few have actually experienced this delicious way of serving rabbit. In brief, Hasenpfeffer is a farmer style meal that is generally served in the fall around the time of Oktoberfest.
Everyone I know who has eaten Hasenpfeffer has loved it as it is true German comfort food similar to our southern fried chicken. Though there are many recipes for Hasenpfeffer however a basic definition of Hasenpfeffer is: It is breaded rabbit fried in bacon grease that is served with potato pancakes, rye bread, and beer.
